To me, Melinda looks a little nervous and distant. She doesn’t look like she is paying attention in class because her mind is somewhere else, probably some past event.
This blog has been created to help students at Prep Charter High School with their summer reading assignments. Students going into 10th grade must read Speak by Laurie Halse Anderson. Students are encouraged to use the blog as they read to help them understand the plot, characters, and larger themes of the story. While teachers will be adding questions and comments, students should also talk to each other about the book via the blog. Happy Reading!

It's seems as thought that she is curious about what other people say. But also wants to know if their talking about her or about someone else.
